SCRIPTURE: So Potiphar gave Joseph complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned. With Joseph there, he didn’t have a worry in the world, except to decide what he wanted to eat! Genesis 39:6 (NLT)

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: A person with character will attract and maintain favour, but a person who gains favour without character will soon lose it.

Seeds Of Destiny For Today 2024 MESSAGE:

Our anchor Scripture reveals that Potiphar entrusted Joseph with complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned. With Joseph in charge, Potiphar didn’t have a single worry except deciding what he wanted to eat! That was a perfect demonstration of godly character by Joseph. Potiphar’s mind was at rest because Joseph’s integrity and faithfulness gave him peace and confidence. This is the kind of lifestyle that positions people for promotion. God is always searching for people to lift, but many people make it difficult for Him to lift them because of the crookedness of their ways. When you commit to being upright, especially in financial dealings, you won’t lack favour with God or men. A person who inspires trust attracts favour. But when things entrusted to someone constantly fail or deteriorate, the issue is not just a lack of favour—it’s a character challenge. Character sustains favour. A person with character will attract and maintain favour, but a person who gains favour without character will soon lose it. No matter how many opportunities or open doors come to people, they will eventually lose them if character is missing.

I once counselled someone and shared three key observations with him:

1. “You are too much in a hurry to get rich.”
2. “You don’t keep your word.”
3. “You are not faithful.”

Furthermore, I told him, “You are too much in a hurry; you want to achieve many things at the same time, and so everything is collapsing. You will not be trusted because you lack integrity.” Beloved, if this describes you, there is hope. God is merciful and can give you another chance. However, it is crucial to make up your mind to become a person of integrity. When you embrace integrity, favour will naturally follow and endure in your life.

Remember this: A person with character will attract and maintain favour, but a person who gains favour without character will soon lose it.

ASSIGNMENT:

1. Make up your mind to be a person of godly character to attract favour from both God and men.
2. Like Joseph, take responsibility in all areas of life.

PRAYER: Father, I receive the grace to be a person of godly character. Help me to grow in favour with both You and men, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
